How to create a vertical garden?

Although on the surface it may seem complicated to create a green wall, it is possible to do it yourself. By using the appropriate pixel garden modules, vertical gardens of any size can be created. These modules consist of sets of pots and wires attached to a vertical surface. The structure resembles a set of gutters with pots inserted diagonally upwards, in which plants are planted. When planning a vertical garden, the first thing to consider is its location. This determines the choice of plants to be grown on the green wall. Naturally, plants that require a lot of light should be planted near windows, such as balcony windows. Shade-preferring plants, on the other hand, can be boldly placed in the depths of the house. If you can't provide enough natural light for plants that require it, make sure you illuminate them.

Installation of a green wall

The installation of the vertical garden depends on choosing the right system. The purchased modules should be mounted to the wall. However, it is recommended that they are set on solid trusses, fixed to the wall. We also recommend that an insulating layer - a structure - is installed between the wall and the truss. This can be made of PVC, but MDF or a wooden frame will also work well. In order to avoid the risk of modules falling off, each module must be securely fastened to the supporting surface with suitable screws. Before installing your vertical garden, it is also advisable to think about the effect you want to achieve and adjust the positioning of the individual elements accordingly. We offer very convenient to install systems on aluminium frames fixed to the wall, the so-called Alu Frames. These can have an integrated watering system that allows comprehensive watering of all the plants in a vertical garden arranged on the wall. The Alu Frame system consists of an aluminium frame, interchangeable pots and an optional irrigation connector and drain. Mobile Alu Frames are also available, allowing the green wall to be placed anywhere and moved around. This solution works very well in any location, especially in offices, hotels or restaurants.

The choice of plant species for a vertical garden cannot be random. Of course, you should be guided by the style of your interior. however, in order for a green wall to be pleasing to the eye for a long time and for the plants to develop properly, you need to provide the plants with the right conditions: sunlight, water and substrate. When selecting plants for a vertical garden, it is also important that they do not compete with each other and feel comfortable in similar conditions. Climbing plants, which in nature have a vertical climbing towards the sun, will therefore work best. A very good solution is to use several flowering plants surrounded by climbing plants with a large number and surface area of leaves, this allows the green wall space to be filled in interestingly. Larger plants also work very well in large-scale vertical gardens. This will help to create a compact and even structure to the arrangement. Among the plants most often chosen for vertical gardens are epipremnums, herbaceous plants, philodendrons, arrowroot, trifoliate, monstera and many others.
